Well I received a blog from my sister Amy in Massachusetts and decided that this would be a fun way to keep in touch with those that we don't see a lot, so here it goes.
2007 is almost gone and boy does time fly. Doug and I were racking our brains trying to remember what year we were married. I think we figured it to be 2003 so that said another year gone and hopefully another great one begins.
Doug is still working at BBWI. I think? The company changes contracts and names so many time I can't keep them straight. It is much easier to say INEEL or "the site"! He was promoted to Area Coordinator (officially) at the beginning of the year. He has been doing this position long before that but it was never made official until recently. You've got to love working for the Government. He really enjoys this new position and does very well. It has allowed him to be on straight 10 hour days instead of rotating 12's. This has been a huge blessing to our family. He is now home at 6 instead of eight and his weekends are free. There is much more time to spend with kids.
I (Emily) am still working at First Horizon Home Loans. I will be there 2 years in April. It has defiantly been a big change from the local bank that I worked at for a for 7 years. I am a Real Estate Loan officer for First Horizon and as many of you probably have heard real estate isn't the greatest these days, but I work for a very financially strong institution so hopefully we will fight out the storm. Pocatello is still a great market and homes are still being built and people are still moving but the qualifying is being hugely impacted by the changes in the market nationwide. So here's my sales pitch.........If any of you are thinking about buying, selling, or refinancing your home you know you to call. :)
For those of you that don't know, we have two beautiful kids and for those of you that do know, they are doing great. Keyton who is 3 is doing great in school. He loves to hang out with dad and help fix up the hot rod. Dad also got him a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Mom wasn't thrilled but Keyton is so excited to shoot his gun. Mom's not!
Hadley turned 1 November 13th and started walking a couple weeks after that. She is my most mischievous out of the two. She is into everything. She has been a lot of fun for me but Dad can't stand the shopping but a girl gots to do what a girl gots to do! Right? Hadley also took her first plan ride in August. My mom and I along with Hadley of course went to visit my sister Amy and her family in North Attleboro, MA. We had a lot of fun and Hadley did very well but I was sure glad that my mom was there to help. We didn't do a lot of things while we were there since this was my like my 6th time there but it was great to get to see them and the kids. I miss them all so much. I pray for the day when they are closer.
Dustin, Doug's younger brother finally proposed to his girlfriend Lynell after 4 years. We are all so excited. I think I have shopped for wedding dresses for her more than she has. Dan, Doug's older brother and his wife are trying to have a baby, which she will probably want to shoot me after she reads this but I now have regained hope that the Harmon's will populate before my kids get to old! My younger brother Clint and his wife Kim are soon expecting another child. After the passing of Gunner at only 22 weeks we are all holding are breath and praying this pregnancy goes well. She has had to do a lot of extra steps to help things stay on a good path but it will all be worth it. My older brother Jason and his wife Liz are also expecting another. The Andersen's side of things obviously don't have the populating problem!!! Come on Harmon's get it in gear!!!!
In between kids, work and all the holidays that have been going on we have been spending every last minute we have over at our rental house trying to get things remodeled so we can get it on the market. I bought the house in 2001 and it has served it's purpose so it's time to get rid of it. Hopefully we be able to sell it quickly. Doug as been doing all the work himself so it has taken us a while but we are crossing our fingers that it all pays off in the end. We would like to start spending the time and money on our house once we have it finished and sold.
This year we also experienced our first buying, selling and raising our own beef. Don't get to excited we aren't farmers by any means. We bought 3 fattened them up, sold two back to the auction and keep one, fattened him up more and then butchered him. Yummmmm. We didn't do to bad for our first go around. Keyton was a little upset when he realized that Purple (the cow's name given to him so generously by Keyton) was now dinner but I think we have gotten past that meltdown.
This year has been filled with many goods and some bad but we have been very blessed and we are so thankful for that we have been able to experience bits of our lives with each of you. We hope this finds all of you in good health and we hope you have a great beginning to a new year.
